Maite and Leila have told me many stories of what it is like living in Belgium where they come from and one of the points that stood out for me is that in Belgium you are able to walk around in the streets without any fear that you may get stabbed for something as petty as your cellphone or a few coins. Arvydas also now lives in Belgium and he has told me of times when he has gone for walks at night.
When I looked more closely at these stories I saw that I actually experienced slight jealousy and anger towards them for being able to do something as simple as walking at night, which is something that is unheard of here in where I live. Well of course you could go walking at night if you so wished, but the dangers of doing something like that far outweigh the benefit of enjoying a simple walk.
Crime is rife and extremely aggressive within South Africa. Even in your elitist areas where the rich live, I can assure you that they do not dare go for a walk by themselves at night either. It’s just something you don’t do because everyone knows that there is a huge dividing line here which separates the haves from the have-nots. And those who don’t have far outweigh those that do. This is the only reason why crime exists. There are many poor people in South Africa and most will do anything in the name of survival, even if it means that they kill a person for something as seemingly insignificant as R20 so that they can buy some food to eat. Then you also have your crimes of rape which I would say has its roots coming from the anger one experiences of being suppressed as a being within our current economic system. The system rapes you and you take out your anger by raping a person.
I have many memories of personal encounters of crime in my life. Once, when I was a little girl, my mother and I were walking in town and the next thing I saw someone was busy strangling her. It was a guy who was pulling her necklace from her neck, trying to snap it which he eventually did and then ran off with it. Another memory of crime which was quite a big one was the time I was hijacked and kidnapped by 4 men. Most have probably watched my YouTube videos regarding this event - Again another consequence of our current economic system. And there are many more stories I have in relation to personal experiences with crime, but I will leave it at this.
When I was looking at this point of being able to walk freely without worrying whether or not I will be attacked by someone for money or any other valuable items, a memory popped up of when I was a young girl. I was allowed to ride my bicycles in our neighborhood without my mother being concerned that I may be assaulted in any way. Also many times my mom would send me to the shop which was at the other side of our village to buy bread and milk, not worrying that I will be attacked for any reason.
But when I look at this more specifically I can see that the freedom I had to be able to walk to the shop and back without worrying is also a point of deception in itself because the dividing lines were still there, I just wasn’t aware of them. I lived in a coastal beach village where there is lots of money, and the workers who worked there were paid very decent salaries because, well they work for rich people. This means that for me as a child to be able to walk to the shop, I would not encounter attacks for money as everyone had their basic needs taken care of in terms of having money to provide for themselves.
But now also taking this point back a few years before my time, when I look at what white children had as a point of perceived freedom when they were young, I see that this freedom is also in fact not real freedom at all. Because there you had the situation where the white men excluded the black men from their neighborhoods to apparently create this ‘safe’ space. But what no one ever understood is that the black man was and is never the problem – The problem is money. It always has been about money. This is the ultimate dividing line which manifests crime in our existence. And still in South Africa there are SO many Afrikaners (for one) that believe strongly that it is the black man’s fault that we are not able to for instance walk freely in our streets at night - Clearly not true. If one had to become one and equal to a person who has to resort to crime to exist, what will you experience if you were to place yourself in their shoes? Would you not do whatever it takes so that you can also stay alive?
These are all points that people do not want to look at, and it’s easy to blame a race or a religion or a culture or anything else you would like to place within this ‘blame box’, but that does not solve the actual problem, which is that money is the dictator of all lives and it is only because of an unequal and abusive monetary system that crime exists within our reality.
So like in my case where I experience projected anger towards places like Belgium where I hear that people are able to exists in a seemingly perfect reality – this is not the solution for me to project things like this. The solution exists within each one of us within the realization that, yes we live in a fucked up reality where there are and extensive amount of dividing lines of separation between us, but these lines can all be drawn back to the same starting point which is money. So the solution is clearly to investigate and change our money system.
So I realize that anger and jealousy is not the answer and the only real solution is an Equal Money System which is an Equal Life Support System where each being who is born will have their basic needs taken care of from birth through to their last breathe here on earth. This is the only solution to creating a world where no matter where you are you are able to exist without fear or being harmed because you have more than another being based on what life/money/opportunities you were born into.
It’s time to bridge the gap between the haves and have-nots by giving to all an equal opportunity to life so that no one has to resort to harming another to survive. This is no way to live. There is no magical answer that is going to just manifest itself as the solution to the problems of this world; we are the answer and that means that we have to realize that the only solution is one that is EQUALLY BEST for ALL. So research Equal Money to see for yourself how this is the answer everyone has missed and has been waiting for as the saving grace for humanity. Let’s manifest a world where no one has more right to life than another based on what they have in their wallets. Let’s manifest a world where everyone can enjoy and express themselves freely without existing in little prisons.

ReplyDeleteThanks Rozelle - living in a similar relative safe environment as Belgium is, I did not realize how it is to grow up in a situation of danger because of a gap between rich and poor - like in SA.
ReplyDeleteHowever, this 'relative safe environment' is rapidly changing in 'not safe' because of crime and brutal attacks happening more and more often. Not even because of the gap between rich and poor (although this gap is becoming more and more an actual gap) but just because there are people (youngsters) that feel they have a right to more and just take it from another.
